What a lead-gen business actually is
The simple model: you find businesses that need customers, you bring them potential customers (leads), and they pay you. No product, no inventory.
Every business has the same problem: it needs more customers. A lead-generation business solves that problem for them. You find businesses that want customers, you bring them leads — people who are interested in what they sell — and they pay you for it.
That's it. No product to build. No inventory. No warehouse. You are the bridge between "businesses that need customers" and "people who could become their customers."
The B2C lead-gen loop — repeat it across many buyers in one niche.
What exactly is a "lead"?
A lead is a potential customer who has shown interest — someone who filled out a form, requested a quote, or asked to be contacted. For example:
- A homeowner who requested a quote for solar panels.
- Someone in a car accident looking for a personal-injury lawyer.
- A business owner who asked for a demo of an accounting service.
The business that wants those customers (the buyer) will happily pay you for each one, because every lead can turn into a sale worth hundreds or thousands.
Why this is a great first business
- No product risk. You're selling something every business already wants — customers.
- Low startup cost. You need a way to find buyers and a way to generate leads. Both are cheap to start.
- It scales. Once one buyer is happy, you can deliver more leads, raise prices, and add more buyers in the same niche.
- It's a real asset. A lead-gen business with steady buyers and recurring revenue can eventually be sold.
The whole business in one picture
There are only two sides to this business, and the rest of this course is about getting good at both:
- The demand side — find buyers. Companies that will pay you for leads. This is sales and outreach. (Modules 2–5.)
- The supply side — generate leads. Actually producing the leads your buyers want, usually through ads and simple funnels. (Module 6.)
Beginner tip: most people start by finding a buyer first, then generating leads for them. It's much easier to produce leads when you already know exactly who's paying and what they want.
What you'll have by the end
A niche you understand, a credible presence, a list of real buyers, a working outreach system that gets replies, and the playbook to deliver leads and grow. Next, let's look at the three ways you actually get paid.
