Knowledge Base

Everything you need to know about using Scrupp — from your first export to advanced API automation.

What Is Scrupp?

Scrupp is a B2B lead generation and data enrichment platform. It helps sales teams, marketers, and agencies:

  • Scrape leads and companies from LinkedIn, Sales Navigator, and Apollo.io
  • Find & verify business email addresses and phone numbers
  • Enrich contact and company data (industry, company size, technologies, etc.)
  • Export clean, organized lead lists as CSV or Excel files
  • Integrate with CRMs like HubSpot via direct sync or webhooks
  • Automate workflows through a REST API and Chrome extension

Users purchase credits to perform actions. Each scraped lead or found email costs credits depending on the operation type.

Getting Started

Signing Up

  • Visit scrupp.com and click Sign Up.
  • Register with email/password or use Google, Facebook, or LinkedIn OAuth.
  • New users get a free trial with a limited number of credits to test the platform.

First Login & Onboarding

After signing up, new users are guided through an onboarding wizard:

  1. Welcome screen — introduces the platform.
  2. Goal selection — choose what you want to do (scrape leads, scrape companies, enrich data, build API automation).
  3. Volume assessment — how many leads you need.
  4. Connect an account — link your LinkedIn or Apollo account.
  5. Create your first export — guided walk-through of export creation.

You can skip the onboarding at any time and go straight to the dashboard.

Activating Your Account

  • A verification email is sent upon registration.
  • Click the activation link to verify your email address.
  • If you didn't receive the email, check your spam folder or request a new one from the login page.

The dashboard is your home hub. It displays:

  • Credit Balance — your remaining credits.
  • All-Time Statistics — total leads scraped, total emails found, and email discovery rate (percentage of leads where emails were found).
  • Weekly Activity — number of leads exported this week.
  • Recent Exports — your last 5 exports with name, data source, lead/email count, status, and quick action links.

Quick Actions from Dashboard:

  • "All exports" — go to the Lists page to see all your exports.
  • "AI search" — launch the AI Lead Finder.

Scraping Leads

What Is Lead Scraping?

Lead scraping extracts contact information (names, job titles, companies, emails, phone numbers) from professional databases and social networks.

Supported Data Sources for Leads

SourceDescription
LinkedIn Sales NavigatorMost popular. Scrape leads from Sales Navigator search results or saved lists.
LinkedIn People SearchScrape from standard LinkedIn people search (available on non-Lifetime plans).
Apollo.ioScrape leads from Apollo's database (available on non-Lifetime plans).

How to Scrape Leads

  1. Go to Lists in the sidebar (or click "New export").
  2. Choose "Scrape Leads" and select your data source.
  3. Enter your search URL — paste the LinkedIn / Sales Navigator / Apollo search URL with your desired filters already applied.
  4. Choose the number of items to scrape: 50, 100, 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500 (up to 5,000 or 10,000+ for Sales Navigator depending on credits).
  5. Configure email options:
    • Without emails (fastest, cheapest)
    • Find emails for all leads
    • Export leads with emails only (skip leads without emails)
  6. Optional toggles:
    • Find phone numbers (US contacts only, paid plans)
    • Auto-export after scraping (automatically downloads a file when done)
  7. Advanced settings (optional): start page, max items, select team, webhook URL.
  8. Click "Export X items" to start.

Export Progress

  • After starting, you'll see a progress bar showing scraping status.
  • Typical speed: ~2,500 items in about 10 minutes.
  • Status progresses through: Get → Enrich → Validate Emails → Results.
  • You'll receive a notification when the export completes.
  • You can navigate away — the export runs in the background.

Tips for Lead Scraping

  • Apply as many filters as possible in LinkedIn/Sales Navigator before copying the URL — this gives you better-targeted results.
  • For Sales Navigator, avoid selecting multiple countries in a single export exceeding 2,500 items — create separate exports per country instead.
  • Saved lists from Sales Navigator can be exported but are limited to 2,500 items per export.

Scraping Companies

Supported Data Sources for Companies

SourceDescription
Sales Navigator — CompaniesSearch for companies in Sales Navigator.
LinkedIn — Jobs/CompaniesStandard LinkedIn company search (non-Lifetime plans).

How to Scrape Companies

  1. Go to Lists"Scrape Companies".
  2. Select your source (Sales Navigator, LinkedIn, or Apollo).
  3. Paste the search URL with your filters applied.
  4. Choose the number of companies to scrape.
  5. Configure options (similar to lead scraping).

  • Company size (employee count), founded year
  • Location (headquarters), LinkedIn URL, logo
  • Technology stack, keywords & product categories

AI Lead Finder

The AI Lead Finder lets you describe your ideal customer profile (ICP) in natural language, and AI generates a targeted lead list.

How to Use It

  1. Go to Lists and click "Find Leads (AI Search)".
  2. Describe your ICP in the text box. For example:
    • "SaaS companies in the tech industry, 50–500 employees, founded after 2015, based in the US"
    • "Marketing agencies in Europe with 10–100 employees"
  3. The AI processes your description and generates matching lead criteria.
  4. Review the estimated credit cost.
  5. Click "Generate leads".
  6. View results in a table with company and contact information.
  7. Apply additional filters (industry, company size, location) to refine.
  8. Export results to CSV or add to an existing export.

Data Enrichment

Enrichment adds missing information to your existing contact or company lists — emails, phone numbers, company data, etc.

Lead / Contact Enrichment (CSV Upload)

  1. Go to Lists"Enrich Leads".
  2. Upload your CSV file (drag-and-drop or click to browse).
  3. Map columns — match your CSV columns to Scrupp fields (first name, last name, company, etc.).
  4. Select enrichment options: find business emails, verify existing emails, find phone numbers.
  5. Click "Start enrichment".
  6. Download the enriched CSV when processing is complete.

Company Enrichment (CSV Upload)

  1. Go to Lists"Enrich Companies".
  2. Upload your CSV with company names or domains.
  3. Map columns.
  4. Select what to enrich: firmographics (industry, size, founded year), domain/website lookup, location data.
  5. Start enrichment and download results.

Enrichment Data Points

Contact enrichment adds: verified business email, email confidence score, phone numbers (US-focused), current job title and company, LinkedIn profile URL, location, professional headline.

Company enrichment adds: industry classification, company size/employee count, domain/website, founded year, headquarters location, technology stack, keywords.

Enrichment During Scraping

When you scrape leads, you can enable email finding and phone finding during the export setup — enrichment happens automatically as part of the scraping pipeline.

Email Finding & Verification

How Email Finding Works

Scrupp uses multiple methods to discover business email addresses:

  • Pattern detection based on known company email formats.
  • Cross-referencing with professional databases.
  • Domain-based email pattern matching.
  • Third-party verification APIs.

Email Status Types

StatusMeaning
ValidEmail confirmed deliverable.
InvalidEmail bounces or doesn't exist.
UnknownCould not be verified (may still work).

Email Finding Options (When Creating an Export)

  • Without emails — don't find emails (saves credits).
  • Find emails for all leads — attempt email finding for every lead.
  • Export leads with emails only — only include leads where an email was found.

Email Rate

The email discovery rate varies by industry and target audience. Typical rates range from 30% to 70%. Professional domains (company emails) have higher discovery rates than personal emails.

Phone Number Finding

  • Phone number finding is available for US contacts only.
  • Available on paid plans (not included in free trials).
  • Enable the "Find phone numbers" toggle when creating an export.
  • Found phone numbers appear in your export alongside other contact data.
  • Phone number finding uses additional credits.

Managing Lists (Exports)

In Scrupp, a "List" (also called an export or aggregator) is a collection of contacts or companies from a single scraping/enrichment job.

List Page Overview

  • Feature cards at the top for quick access to scraping and enrichment.
  • Vendor filter — filter by data source (LinkedIn, Sales Nav, Apollo, etc.).
  • Type filter — show contacts or companies.
  • Search — find lists by name.
  • Folder filter — view lists in specific folders.

  • Credits are purchased via subscription plans or one-time purchases.
  • Your credit balance is displayed in the dashboard and header.

FAQ & Troubleshooting

My export is stuck at "Running" for a long time.

Exports can take time depending on the number of items. For 2,500 items, expect about 10 minutes. For larger exports, it may take longer. If it's been over an hour:

  1. Check your account connection (Accounts page → "Check" button).
  2. Make sure you have enough credits.
  3. Contact support if the issue persists.

My email discovery rate is very low.

Email discovery rates vary by industry and target audience. Tips:

  • Target business professionals (not students or freelancers).
  • Focus on people at companies with websites/domains.
  • Ensure names and company information are accurate.
  • Try different data sources (Sales Navigator often has better data).

My LinkedIn account was disconnected.

LinkedIn may occasionally require re-authentication. Go to Accounts → click "Check" on your account → reconnect if needed. Avoid running too many exports simultaneously from the same account.

I can't see my exported file.

  1. Check the list status — it must be "Done" to download.
  2. Go to Lists → find your export → click the download icon.
  3. Check your browser's download folder.
  4. If the file is empty, the export may have had no matching results.

How do I get a receipt / invoice for my payment?

Go to Billing (sidebar or user menu) → find the payment in your orders list → click "View receipt" to open or download the PDF invoice.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Billing → find your active subscription → click "Cancel". Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.

Can I use Scrupp without the Chrome extension?

Yes! The extension is optional. You can paste search URLs directly into Scrupp's web app to create exports. The extension just adds convenience for in-browser scraping.

How do I share my lists with team members?

  1. Create a Team (Team page → "Create New Team").
  2. Invite members via email.
  3. Lists and accounts can be shared within the team.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Active exports will pause. You'll receive a "Low credits" notification. Purchase more credits from the Credits page to resume operations.

Is my data secure and GDPR-compliant?

Yes. Scrupp follows GDPR guidelines. See our Data Protection, Privacy Policy, GDPR Compliance, and Terms of Service pages.

What payment methods are accepted?

Credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex via Stripe), cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin via CoinGate), and regional payment methods (LiqPay).

How do I use the API?

  1. Generate an API key (API Keys page).
  2. Read the API documentation.
  3. Use the API Builder to test calls.
  4. Integrate with your systems using REST endpoints.

Can I export to my CRM?

Yes! Scrupp integrates with HubSpot directly. For other CRMs, you can:

  • Export as CSV and import manually.
  • Use webhooks to push data automatically.
  • Use the API to build custom integrations.
