ZoomInfo vs RocketReach: Pay per Export or Pay for Results?

Short answer: RocketReach is the one you can buy alone, by card, for a few hundred dollars a year, and it only spends a credit when it actually returns a verified email or phone. ZoomInfo is sold on an annual quote, spends one credit per export, and its buyers report a median contract of about $33,500 a year. For one to three people who need contacts for named prospects, RocketReach is the sensible start. For a revenue team that wants a single data platform with company search, workflows and integrations under one contract, ZoomInfo is what you are pricing.

Which one fits which buyer?

  • A founder or a single rep who looks up people one by one: RocketReach. Its Essentials plan was about $399 a year for 1,200 email lookups, according to Landbase's review published on 3 May 2026; Essentials does not include phone numbers.
  • A small team that calls prospects: RocketReach Pro or a team plan. The same review lists Pro at about $899 a year for one person and Team Pro at about $996 per user a year, both with phones.
  • A sales and marketing organisation buying one system for many seats, with admin controls and CRM sync negotiated together: ZoomInfo, quoted by sales.

RocketReach shows its self-serve prices only in the browser, and we could not read them as text on 21 October 2026, so the figures above are from that review; check them on the checkout page. When we read its pages on 9 October 2026, custom team plans started from $6,000 a year. ZoomInfo publishes no prices; Vendr's marketplace data puts the median at $33,500 a year across 1,576 purchases (updated February 2026). Details: RocketReach pricing and ZoomInfo pricing.

Paying for results against paying for exports

RocketReach's knowledge base sets out its credit rules plainly. A lookup credit is used only for a profile that returns verified contact information; if nothing verified is found, nothing is deducted. Searching and building company lists cost nothing. Once you have looked up a person you keep access without paying again, and exporting a profile you already exported does not spend another export credit. Standard credits unlock emails only; Premium credits unlock emails and phones and cost the same, so a phone does not cost extra on a plan that includes phones.

ZoomInfo's rule is one credit per export, from a monthly allowance in your package. Its pricing page adds that some integrations require a minimum purchase of bulk credits when installed. Ask in the quote whether looking at a record before exporting it is free, and what happens to credits you do not use.

The practical difference: with RocketReach, a lookup that comes back empty is free, so the cost of a miss falls on the vendor. With a per-export model, you pay for what you take out, and the quality question moves to how good the record was.

Three checks before you commit

  1. Run 25 people you need this quarter through RocketReach's free lookups and the ZoomInfo trial. Count verified emails and direct phones from each.
  2. Write down how many contacts a month each rep really pulls. RocketReach's Essentials allowance works out at 100 a month; if you need more, price Pro or a team plan instead of paying overage.
  3. Ask ZoomInfo for the credit count in writing and divide the yearly quote by it. Compare that per-contact figure with RocketReach's plan price divided by its lookups.

Comparing Scrupp, ZoomInfo, and RocketReach

When deciding between traditional contact databases like ZoomInfo and RocketReach versus LinkedIn-centric extraction tools like Scrupp, consider your primary prospecting channel. If your workflow relies heavily on Sales Navigator, tools that enrich data directly from your searches can bridge the gap between database lookup limits and real-time social prospecting.

Both tools look people up in their own databases. If your target accounts and roles are already in a LinkedIn or Sales Navigator search, Scrupp exports that search in one go, beyond the 2,500 results Sales Navigator displays, and finds emails and phones for each person. A lead costs 1 credit, a found email 1 more and a found phone 2 more, and the free plan includes 100 credits a month. See RocketReach alternatives or Scrupp vs ZoomInfo.
