Short answer: pick Hunter if you start from a company domain and want to see every address at that company, or if you need a free plan that refills each month. Pick VoilaNorbert if you already have names and companies in a spreadsheet and want to pay only for the emails it actually finds, with unused credits carried over. Neither tool gives you phone numbers. Prices below are from each vendor's own pricing page, checked on 28 October 2026.
The one difference that decides it
Hunter is built around the domain. Type acme.com into Domain Search and you get the addresses Hunter has seen at that company, the email pattern it uses, and the sources where each address appeared. That is useful when you know the account but not yet the person.
VoilaNorbert is built around the person. You give it a first name, last name and company or domain, one at a time or as a CSV of any size, and it returns that person's address. It does not list everyone at a company. Its pricing page says it counts "only successful email founds", so a row that comes back empty costs nothing.
What you pay at three volumes
Both vendors sell monthly plans with a discount for annual billing. Hunter's credits are shared: finding an email costs 1 credit, verifying one costs half a credit. VoilaNorbert's plans count leads found; verification is sold separately as pay-as-you-go at $0.003 per email (minimum $2).
| You need per month | Hunter | VoilaNorbert |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 50 emails | Free plan: 50 credits, renewed every month | 50 free credits once, at sign-up |
| Up to 1,000 emails | Starter: 2,000 credits, $49/mo or $34/mo billed annually | Valet: 1,000 leads, $49/mo or $39/mo billed annually |
| Up to 5,000 emails | Above Starter; see Hunter's pricing page | Butler: 5,000 leads, $99/mo or $79/mo billed annually |
At 1,000 emails a month Hunter's Starter is the cheaper choice on an annual plan and leaves 1,000 credits for verification or domain searches. VoilaNorbert's advantage shows up in lists with a low hit rate: if half your rows come back empty, you have only paid for the half that worked, and what you did not use rolls over to next month.

VoilaNorbert also has a Chrome extension, but its store listing names Crunchbase, AngelList and BuzzSumo as supported sites, not LinkedIn, and it was last updated in September 2025. If your leads live on LinkedIn, do not count on it there.
When neither fits
Both tools assume you already know who you want to email. If your list starts as a LinkedIn or Sales Navigator search, you first need the names and companies out of LinkedIn, and then an email finder on top. Dedicated B2B lead generation tools like Scrupp handle this workflow in one pass by exporting search results and enriching them with verified work emails and phone numbers. However, if your primary need is domain-wide searches like "show me everyone at acme.com", Hunter and VoilaNorbert remain the better dedicated fits.
