UpLead vs ZoomInfo: Published Prices vs an Annual Quote

Short answer: UpLead publishes its prices and sells month to month, starting at $99 a month for 170 contacts, so a small team can buy exactly what it needs. ZoomInfo does not publish prices at all: every package is an annual quote, and the median contract reported by the buying platform Vendr is about $33,500 a year. Choose UpLead if you need a few hundred verified contacts a month; ZoomInfo only makes sense once you need its intent data, org charts and team-wide licences, and have the budget for an annual contract.

Cost per contact

UpLead's price per contact falls as you move up a plan or pay yearly. If you use every credit:

  • Essentials, monthly: $99 ÷ 170 ≈ $0.58 a contact.
  • Plus, monthly: $199 ÷ 400 ≈ $0.50.
  • Essentials, yearly: $74 × 12 = $888 for 2,040 credits ≈ $0.44.
  • Plus, yearly: $149 × 12 = $1,788 for 4,800 credits ≈ $0.37.

The same sum cannot be done for ZoomInfo, because neither the price nor the credit allowance of a package is public. What you can say is that the reported median contract, about $33,500 a year, is roughly 19 times the cost of a year of UpLead Plus. For that to be the cheaper choice per contact, a ZoomInfo contract would need to include about 90,000 usable exports a year at the median price. Ask for the credit allowance in writing before you compare quotes.

What the higher price buys

The gap is not only margin. ZoomInfo sells a platform: buyer intent, website visitor and org-chart data, workflow tools and licences for a whole sales team. UpLead's two self-serve plans are a contact database with verified emails, mobile numbers and a Chrome extension; buyer intent data, full API access and two-way CRM sync are only in its sales-priced Professional plan. So the fair comparison is UpLead Professional against a ZoomInfo quote, and UpLead Essentials or Plus against teams that only need contacts.

Questions to settle before you sign either

  1. Do unused credits carry over? UpLead's pricing page does not say. ZoomInfo allowances are set per contract. Get the answer in writing.
  2. How many seats are included? UpLead's self-serve plans are for one user. ZoomInfo prices by licence, so a team of five costs more than a team of one.
  3. What happens at renewal? With ZoomInfo the contract is annual; check the notice period for cancelling. UpLead's monthly plans can be stopped from the subscription page.

Alternative approach: Scraping LinkedIn & Sales Navigator directly

Instead of relying purely on large B2B databases like ZoomInfo or UpLead, many sales teams leverage LinkedIn and Sales Navigator to build highly targeted prospecting lists. Tools like Scrupp allow you to extract these search results directly, bypassing traditional database limitations.

Both tools sell access to their own database. If you build your lists in LinkedIn or Sales Navigator instead, you can skip the database and export the search directly. Scrupp exports the whole search, beyond the 2,500 results Sales Navigator displays, and looks up emails and phones for each person. A lead costs 1 credit, a found email 1 more and a found phone 2 more, so a lead with both costs 4 credits: about $0.12 on the $29 Starter plan with 1,000 credits, with no contract.
