Short answer: pick Hunter if you mainly look up emails by company domain and want to pay only for addresses it actually finds: its Starter plan is $49 a month for 2,000 credits, and a search that finds nothing is free. Pick Snov.io if you want finding, verification and email sending in one account and plan to use high volumes: its plans start at $39 a month for 1,000 credits and get cheaper per credit than Hunter from Pro M ($189 for 20,000 credits) upward. Prices below were read on both vendors' pricing pages on 19 October 2026.

A credit is not the same thing in both tools
Comparing the number of credits misleads, because each tool charges for different actions.
- Finding an email. Hunter charges 1 credit per email found through Domain Search, Email Finder or Bulk Email Finder, and nothing when it finds no address. Snov.io's page says each prospect costs 1 credit.
- Verifying an email. Hunter charges half a credit and nothing when the answer is "Unknown". Snov.io charges a full credit per verification.
- Bulk domain search. On Hunter one credit covers up to 10 emails from a Bulk Domain Search, which makes it cheap when you need several people from the same company.
- Repeats. Hunter counts the same search or verification once per billing period, so re-running a list does not charge twice.
Unused credits. Neither tool is generous on monthly billing. Hunter credits reset every month and do not roll over; on yearly billing you get the whole year's credits on day one. Snov.io credits expire after 30 days, but carry over to the next month on an annual plan or when plan renewal is switched on. If your prospecting comes in bursts, that difference matters more than the headline price.
What 1,000 found-and-verified emails cost
Take a list where you find 1,000 addresses and verify each one before sending. On monthly billing, at each tool's cheapest plan that covers the job:
- Hunter: 1,000 finds + 1,000 × 0.5 for verification = 1,500 credits. That fits in Starter (2,000 credits), so $49.
- Snov.io: 1,000 prospects + 1,000 verifications = 2,000 credits. Starter has 1,000, so you need Pro S (5,000 credits), $99.
At ten times the volume the order flips. 10,000 found and verified emails take 15,000 Hunter credits (Scale, $299) and 20,000 Snov.io credits (Pro M, $189). So Hunter is cheaper for small, careful lists, and Snov.io is cheaper for teams that process tens of thousands of contacts a month.
Sending is part of Snov.io's price
Every Snov.io plan also comes with "recipients": the number of people you can email from Snov.io's own campaigns. One recipient is used the first time you contact a lead, and follow-ups to that lead in the same billing period are free. Starter includes 5,000 recipients and Pro S 25,000. Hunter also lets you send campaigns from a connected mailbox, but its price is set by credits, not by recipients. If you already send from another tool, you are paying for Snov.io's sending allowance without using it; if you do not have a sending tool yet, it is the reason to choose Snov.io.
Both tools are built around the question "what is this person's email at this company?". Hunter starts from a domain or a name. Snov.io adds a browser extension and drip campaigns around the same lookup. Neither pricing page mentions phone numbers.
If your list starts as a LinkedIn or Sales Navigator search rather than a list of domains, the order of work is different: you first need the people, then their addresses. That is what dedicated LinkedIn lead generation and data enrichment tools like Scrupp do. They allow you to export searches past Sales Navigator's 2,500-result limit, extracting profiles, companies, and verified emails directly into CSV or Excel files. Scrupp offers CSV enrichment, a powerful Chrome extension, and integrations with popular CRMs like HubSpot and Salesforce. - Under about 1,500 credits of work a month: Hunter Starter. You pay only for found emails, and verification is half price.
- Tens of thousands of contacts a month: Snov.io Pro M or above costs less per credit.
- No sending tool yet: Snov.io, because campaigns are included.
- Your leads come from LinkedIn searches: start with an export of the search, then look up emails for the people in it.
